Help! My radio just went into SAFE mode for no reason. I don't have the code. What are my options?

code is in the manual if you don't have it dealer get me mine for $20 ;o) good luck

Dealer got you the code for 20 bucks? I thought the price was now up to $100?

It's not standardized. Some dealers (stealers for sure) have taken this as a license to rape.

I was sitting in the car waiting for my wife ... Without putting the key into ignition, I turned the radio on. I do this all the time. You don't need the key in ignition to play the radio in '99 A6. The radio turned on, only it was in tape mode. As soon as I turned the radio on, I pushed the mode button twice to go from TAPE-to-CD-to-RADIO, and that's when it happened, the radio turned off and the display showed SAFE. Since I bought the car in '02 I never replaced nor pulled the radio, so I assume it's original.

you have the radio booklet (seperate from the owner's manual) that has your radio code.

$40 at both dealers in MN. Try calling original dealer. AoA can tell you who it is.
