Default Help w/ crank lock tool 3242--is my part bad?

Link below to my original post w/ more detail.

If you have a 3242, do the threads look the same, all the way up the tool? On mine, about 1/2 way up, they change from "flattened out" or "knocked down" to pointy & sharp. In other words, the outside diameter of the threads increases, which may be the problem.

TIA

Default Sorry, operator error. Nothing wrong with the tool.

It's just not in far enough.

Default *****! I'll try it again. Any comment on the appearance of the threads?

1/2 flattened, 1/2 sharp?

All threads should be fully in, correct?

Thanks for your comments 4Driver4!

Default Threads are correct, not sure how far in "in" is though.

Just make sure that the crank is at TDC before you go nuts on it.

Default IT IS A PROBLEM. I had the same issue and i fixed it...

What i did was i used 120 grit sandpaper wrapped around it and kept spinning the tool in the direction that would keep the sandpaper wrapped around it. That flatened the threads to make it even all over. The raised part seems to be a manufaturing issue. After i did the sandpapering i used air to blow it and oiled the threads. After that it went in with no problem.
I just decided to fix it myself because i did not have the time for returns and stuff. Before i messed with it it would only go in a bit more than half way.
I bought mine on ebay together with the cam bar...maybe you did the same.

Default Got it in 2nd time around. Now its out and the threads look the same.

I'm now thinking it's designed that way. Shallow threads so it's easy to get started, deeper threads in the 2nd 1/2 to make sure it's tight fit when fully inserted.
