Default Is it helpful if in fitting instructions values are given in imperial units?

I translate fitting instructions for a couple of the German tuning comapnies into English from German. Up until now I have always tried to give the measusrements such as for drill bits and dimensional positions or torque for bolts in the nearest imperial value, these I put in brackets after the original metric value. Is this information of assistance to most of you ladies and gentlemen in the States, or am I just wasting my time? It would be very helpful to hear your opinions.

Thanks

Default It depends. As long as the translated measurement is within tolerneces, I think it is the best

but if it is a critical measurment, such as a drilled hole that would be to big or small if translated, then give the metric only

Default I think in most cases it is a waste of time...

First off, if you're working with metric fittings you should be using metric tools. Therefore Imp. values are irrelevant. Second, if you are manufacturing a part to fit on a euro car, then going metric is the best option.

The one exception I can think of is torque. The tolerances don't need to be exact for that and most people here have Imp. torque wrenches.

There may be other reasons that your translation would be beneficial but I can't think of one.

Default keep it for items without tight tolerances

Like tire/air pressures and torques, speeds and stuff also. It isn't useful for fastners since we will all be using metric sockets/wrenches anyway.

For engine displacements, don't bother converting unless it is a 300 or 350 (5.0L or 5.7L), we Americans seem to use liters for all other displacements than that.

For other measures like HP, or torque, you had better convert. Most of us have tons of trouble with kW and nM.
