omg(hi2u) - I LOVE tatami rooms...
plan to have one in my house, that is, if I ever get one (for naps and general lounging/reading)
yeah, they were pretty funny about the height issue- they were calling me "taizo" which means "powerful"/"strong"... pretty funny...
i can understand it might not be as great a time if you don't like Japanese cuisine, it happens to be my favorite whereas a friend of mine who went both times with me really struggled with it (though there were certain things he really liked). I do not like natto, otoh. made me vomit pretty bad once when they forced a bunch of us to eat it (to prove something to them- even though they had seen me eat it the year before...)
