Hi beams

Tried it before in a different car, fuse blew out, and bulbs exploded
Was unable to remove glass shards.
Very bad idea - the higher load of the 100watt bulb will put a greater strain on the wiring. You're lucky if the fuse blows first, and no real damage is done. You're not so lucky if the wires start running so hot they melt the insulation around it and a short is created.

Hi beams are H7's not H1's
if you want good results consider spending about 400 US dollars and go for aftermarket true HID xenon lights. You'll get better lighting using only 35 watts per bulb. H7's draw 55 watts.

Re: yer right, they are H7
I had used them for about 10 years on my Saab 900. Are you saying the Audi wiring is inferior? I don't use them very long at a time, no real need to around here. Probably go with H7silverstars anyway to match the new low beam's I just put in.

Try it and tell us your results.
Pics/comparison would be nice too. =)
100 watts sounds like a lot, but maybe the wiring can handle it without a problem. Try it, and tell us what happens. I'm sure there are many who don't wish to spend the extra dough, upgrading to HID's but want the extra illumination. Even with 100watts though, you wont get the light output of a 35 watt xenon.
