How do you guys with the ContiSport Contact 2's like them so far?
#2
You're making me sad. The Conti tires are a fast fading memory,
since I changed to winter tires after just 250m. So here is my biased and inexperienced opinion, given that I was still babying the car when the Contis were on and I would have liked to compare it with the Bridgestone Potenza S-03, Pirelli P Zero Rosso (not P Zero Assimetrico) and Dunlop SP Sport 9000.
I remembered the Conti as being a very good 17" overall performance tire that (together with the other improvements) gave confidence. On dry roads: Very good handling (responsive, precise, sporty), quick lane changes and cornering control. However, I wondered if there are one or two other tires that may perform even better on dry roads. On lightly wet roads: Excellent traction, handling and stopping (no heavy rain experience). Relatively quiet and comfortable ride. I'd expect that the dry and wet braking results with these Conti Sport Contact 2 (235/45 R17 93Y) are better than past A6 brake tests.
Next, you guessed it -- independent tire tests. I couldn't find tests in the 235/45 R17 size. But the URL link below shows tests of 205/55 R16 summer tires by the ADAC (German AA). The Continental Sport Contact 2 scored the best marks among the tested tires. The lower marks are better. (Amateur literal translation of basic terms: Trocken = Dry, Kurvenverhalten = turning performance, Spurwechsel = track change, Nasse = Wet, Bremsen = braking, langs = lengthwise, quer = transverse/ crosswise, seitenfuhrung = side conduct/ management, Komfort = Comfort, Federung = suspension, Innengeraush = inside sound, AuBengerausch = external noise, Rollwiderstand = Rolling Friction, Verschleib = High Wear, Gesamnote = Complete Marks, Besonders Empfehlenswert = Particularly Recommended).

(225/45 R17Y tire test by Gute Fahrt. German text only but worth a look. Conti Sport Contact 2 and Dunlop SP Sport 9000 are rated very good (sehr gut), Pirelli P Zero Rosso is rated good (gut), Michelin Pilot Sport is rated satisfactory (befriedigend). The Bridgestone Potenza RE 040 is rated good (it is the the next best tire to the Potenza S-03 PP in Europe )).

The Sport Contact 2 seems to be very highly rated, and is an improvement over the Sport Contact tires available today in North America.

http://www.fahrschule.de/Auto/sommerreifen_2001_205.jpg</a
