How hard is it to change the oil and filter on a 4.2?

There used to be a brand called Rhino Ramps
that were heavily advertised to Miata and BMW owners via their club mags. I think Griot also makes little ramplets that make regular ramps work better.

Oil Change A6 4.2
I have changed mine twice and agree access is a bit of a pain. I used a floor jack and had no trouble jacking the car. I agree the access to the oil filter is a pain, but I have wondered if I cheat and drill a hole in the filter first to let the oil drain before taking off the filter...ummmmm maybe....
But is is worth doing it your self to save the 'day at the dealer' especially if you live 2.5 hours away like I do.
By the way, anyone else annoyed by the lack of a diagram of 'where the oil filter and plug are' in the Audi Manual? I almost drained my transmission!
Also of note if you jack the front, you can also get the rear tire off the ground and rotate your tires easily. But of course be very careful and don't leave the front without a temporary wheel.
