HP Gain with Intercooler

HP Gain with Intercooler
I have seen people on AudiWorld talk about upgrading intercoolers and that it is a waste of time. I thought you may be interested in this. It is on a Porsche 944 Turbo.

Rennli st

the comments were that it isn't worth it unless you run more boost than normal
This fellow is running more boost, heck, he's replace his turbo with an aftermarket one. The third message in the thread says that he isn't sure how it would work on an otherwise bone stock car.
Add more intercooling after you add more turbo, or you won't get much effect.

Re: HP Gain with Intercooler
Someone needs to measure temperatures before and after the intercooler to see how much of a temp drop there is and see how close to ambient the output side of the intercooler is. If the intercooler is getting to within 10 or so degrees of ambient then there is probably nothing to be gained with a larger intercooler. We also need to see how much pressure is lost across the intercooler, if this is less then a PSI or so then there would be little to gain here either. I will see if the VAG-COM can give us this data.
