I am considering buying Castrol Syntec 0w-30 European formula. How many ppl use it for their A6s?

I use it in my ATQ 2.8L 30V (in a B5 Passat). Only 0w-30 on the US market that meets ACEA A3 specs,
which usually means it meets VW 502.00 specs as well. To me, as long as the oil meets the A3 or the 502.00 you know you are getting a quality oil that will protect against wear. It is best to have it meet both of these specs, but I don't know of a single oil that meets one but not the other (I'm sure there are some out there somewhere, but I haven't seen them).

Last couple of changes I've used Pentosin OEM 5w40..$36 plus shipping online..
Couple of different sources you can buy it from. Other times I've used shell Rotella 4w40 synthetic oil, available at wallyworld for about $20 per gallon. Techincally its a diesel oil, but it has great additives that keep the motor clean. I've been running it in my Mercedes for years now. Sacrilige I know for suggesting using a non VAG approved oil, but then again I think its better to use it and change it more often than use the VAG approved oil and change it less often. The additives are important, but having the right base stock in the proper viscosity range is more important.
