Default I know I'm late but it seems 00032 is the way to go.

Have we had any new data on this? Already did a search. Plan on doing it with the tranny fluid change and start fresh.

Default I'm still a noobie, but it seems to me that this is defeating the purpose?

the transmission is (I believe) an adaptive learning transmission with three modes of operation (D, S, and tip). For normal driving, we put it in D and it learns our daily driving habits and shifts accordingly. Now, if you drive in daily stop and go traffic, it will shift accordingly.

However, if you visit the track or drive in an area where you can really let her rip, it will adapt to that driving style.

Thus, for those of you who are stuck in traffic all day long, the tranny is short shifting and acting lazy...just as the engineers designed it to!

It seems to me, that if you want the shifts to be delayed, and shift at higher rpms as well as downshift without having to put your foot through the floorboard, why not just put it into S mode where the transmission has not adapted to the lazy D mode?

I mean, it almost seems as if many here would rather have a non-adaptive transmission which would be going backwards in technology?

Of course, all of this is a moot point that I'm bringing up if the S mode also adapts to the D mode, but I highly doubt that it would be the case? Enlighten me please!

ps - if the overall 00032 re-code is simply to have the ability to trigger shift when in both D and S (without having to go over to the tiptronic gate) then forget anything that I just wrote

Default Best thing to do is try it.....

It isn't a dramatic change just subtle but I like it. The nice thing about it.... if you don't like it.. just change it back. It can all be done in just minutes with a VAG. If you don't have a VAG yet.... get one.

What if your tranny doesn't have "S" mode?

Ditto. I went 00032 and like what it does... though it's still not a stick.

Mitch-earlier models didn't have the "S" mode, so yes your learning continues!Good thoughts, though.

Default The only downside is that you will, from time to time, pull first gear...

... going around a slow corner and end up with a neck wrenching jump -- more than you were counting on.

Overall, I'm happy I have it. The involuntary 1-2 shift was very annoying.

00032 will tell your tranny to run in sport mode even if you car didn't have it.

Default You captured exactly what I wanted to do with my Tranny.

My 2000 does not have an S mode, but what I really needed was a Jeckle & Hyde mode for my dual personality driving style. 90% (or more) of the time I drive conservatively with slow application of the throttle and not much need to spring off the line. This caused my tranny to learn this mode of driving. When I wanted to really get on it, it would take too long to adapt to my attitutude shift.

00032 works perfectly for my schizophrenic driving style. An an intersting note, since modding to 00032, my fuel mileage has not suffered at all.

Default I tried 00032....but decided on 00012

holding first in Tip didn't work out for me the couple days I had tried it. But I did like the drive I seemed to get in 'D'... so I switched to 00012 which purportedly keeps a little spirit in 'D' even though it won't hold 1st in Tip.

That seems to be the best fit for my driving habits at the moment. From what I could see by searching archive, the improvement in 00012 'D' over stock 00002 'D' is actual rather than 'placebo'. If it is placebo, please don't tell me and let me continue to live in my happy place....
