I pulled up behind a 911 convertible at a traffic light in West Long Branch, NJ this morning. From the sounds/looks of it, he had an aftermarket exhaust, and perhaps some aftermarket wheels. Both of us were in the rightmost lane of a three lane which merged into a 2 lane about 150yds past the light. On green he takes off normally, just fast enough to pass the car to his left (a saturn sedan), I stick close to his rear bumper to clear the Saturn as well. Then, he nails it. (his exhaust sounded nice, albeit very loud). I follow. Throughout 2nd gear I remain right behind him, not gaining nor losing any ground. We both pull to the left lane to pass a car entering the roadway, once clear, the Porsche moves back to the right lane, whilst I stay in the left. I shift to 3rd and I start to creep on him, literally inching closer to him. When I shifted to 4th, continued to creep but we were rapidly approaching traffic and braked to normal speeds. Not sure what year it was, from what I've seen, I would think it was 2000+.

Seems fair to me. Base Pcars aren't THAT fast...'til the corners. I've pulled a f355, 997, and....
a M6 'vert (who obviously was not in M'mode, the look on his trophy wife was comical)
A stage III 2.7 is quite the sleeper.

Naturally aspirated 911's don't stand a chance against a Stage III car
On the other hand, Turbo 911's will dust me off completely anytime
Cayman S--will pull in the straight and depending on the driver can leave me behind.
Boxters--depends on driver.
M5's I can dust any of them on the track even with very experienced instructors.
Z3 M Coupes--nope
RS6--I can hold my own
Z06 & Z71 Vettes, Vipers---fogedaboutit
I do love chasing down cars on the track in the grocery getter. Funny what kind of comments after folks see a monsterous Audi grill bearing down on them in their rear view mirror.

LOL!!!!! Whenever I drive "the sled", the only ones who challenge me are Camaro drivers. wtf?
When I steal a ride in a Gallardo, EVERYBODY wants to race. EVOs, M6, pickups, you name it. I don't think they expect to win, but they want to see a screaming yellow G in action;-)
