I spent 8 hours yesterday getting ready for winter with a winter floormat swap.
Some highlights:
(1) Removing the front seats to get to the rear mats took much longer than I expected.
(2) Ramps are imperative to access the underside of the plastic grommets that snap the mats into place.
(3) I found that blue loctite works best with the front mats although some trimming was required (I used a Dremel).
(4) I destroyed the right side summer mats getting them out - most of the damage was from the sparks. The left side mats are mostly intact except for the acetone smell.
(5) This is generally a two person job as the floorpan is heavy when filled with distilled water.
Although this is C5 specific, I believe this info should apply to most late model Audis. I will post a technical FAQ and photos later.

I recommend what I did last year which is fully fitted diamond plate in the foot well areas.
