If you had a choice of the audi A6 you have or a bmw 540 years1997-2001,what would get and why??

I had the chance and I got the audi. Here's why:
1. Quattro
2. Vastly superior interior
3. More comfortable ride (really)
4. More interior room
5. rear seat folds down (for my bike)
6. Twin turbos!!

I can't agree with you on two points...
...I had an E39 BMW, and I would no way say the Audi A6 interior is "vastly superior". Are you talking ergonmics, design or materials?
Also, I had rear fold down seats (optional, $500 at the time).
And the HP of a 540i wins over the turbos on the 2.7T.

Well for starters....
...it was a lease...I had no choice. The buyout was too high, and I <b>did</b> want to buy it.
I would buy another one if the opportunity was right.
I saw an E39 M5 yesterday at a mecahincs house, and it had me thinking....

A few years ago I was in the market for a 540 but got the A6 4.2.
The 4.2 is rare, looks so cool and I felt would age better. The only flaw is that it has a timing belt vs chain.
I have no regrets but maybe if I gave the 540 a chance and drove one who knows, I might have went for one. I've always wanted one black on black with Hamann or Breyton wheels
