If you had a set of 2x225 and 2x235 tires, what size would go Front, what in the back and why?

Well i read somewhere that for our understeering Audi's its better to put wider tires in the front to reduce understeer. But i personally really like the wide tires look in the back...

Any opinions?

TIA

Neither, use same size tires with quattro.

I've heard that AWD vehicles should have the same tire size front and back from some people.I personally believe that though I've never seen evidence. My local Schwab say's it's irrelevant and has no negative effect on the AWD. And I agree, the wider tires on staggered wheels look good in the back. I've never seen a car with bigger wheels/tires on it's front before.

Default You are correct with the wider in the front...maybe April will chime in too.

The wider fronts will help with turn in (IIRC, plenty of racers do this,) DO NOT install them on the rear.
I would do a rear H-sport sway before I installed wider tires on the front. When I upgraded to H-sport sways fr & r, my S6 started to handle the way it should have from the factory.

Default Wider in the back will increase understeer. Don't run mixed sizes on quattro...

unless the rolling diameter is exactly the same.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

Default I love the look of the wider rears, 295s in the rear, 255s in front, yes it understeers

Donp is absolutly correct, do not run different diameters!

At street speeds it is not an issue, for me. I dont drive at breakaway speeds on the road.

At track I run 265s on 4 corners. 275s at high speed tracks.
