Did you compare the 2.7t to the 4.2 and 2.8? If yes, what were your thoughts on the comparisons? If not, what are your thoughts on the power/accel of the 2.7t? What other options did you get, what color, interior, etc? What other carmakers were you looking at, in addition to Audi? Describe your dealer experience. Your time is appreciated.

Well, let me start by saying that I love this car. It's Silver with onyx leahter interior, Sport Package, Preferred Luxury Package, Bose stereo, 6spd manual transmission. It's really a head turner. People do a double take wherever I pull in.
Anyway, I was in the market for 6 months looking for the perfect performance sport sedan . I compared the Audi with the BMW 530i and Mercedes C320 and found that Audi had a lot more to offer for the money.
It's the fastest of the bunch (0-60 in 6.0sec) and has more standard equipment , such as ; sideguard curtain airbags, Tiptronic auto transmission (which I opted not to get), quattro all-wheel drive system, and a 4 year/50K mile waranty including maintenance.
I went to 4 different dealers before getting my 2.7T. I even tried negotiating with a fleet manager who can sell you a car below MSRP. But it was an ad in the newspaper that got me the car of my dreams(besides a 911 Turbo which I probably will never get my hands on). Commonwealth Audi in Santa Ana, CA really gave me the best deal. They stuck to the ad and didn't try to get more out of me.
Like I said, it's the fastest luxury-entry vehicle in the market , even faster than the 4.2 so that eliminated that, not to mention the 2.8. The ergonomics(interior of car) is alot more graceful than both BMW and Mercedes.
These were some of the things that attracted me to the 2.7T- Affordability, Performance, Styling, Standard highlights, and the sense of Individuality .

Default Congrats & Advice for Marsha7

I just picked up my 2.8 from Beverly Hill Audi at $1370 over invoice. I think I got a great deal. It took me about 2 months to finally get the Audi. After shopping the BMW 525i & Mercedes C320 (cramped interiors), Volvo S80 (boring interior, and numerous customer complaints), I ended up on the fence between the Saab 9-5 and the A6 2.8. I ultimately decided on the A6 based on it's classy interior features and spunk. While I realize it's the least perky of the A6 family, it suits my city driving needs just fine and at $5,000 less than the 2.7t. Marsha, if you go the decide on the 2.8, I highly recommend taking the extra effort to find one equipped with the Premium Package (multi-function steering wheel, memory seats/mirrors and xenon lights). This package is tough to find on a 2.8, but the added perks are well worth the price and effort.

Good Luck

I was looking for speed. Sounds like you got a good deal. I love that color combo, I was having a hard time getting it in the 2.7. Congrats and enjoy!

Congrats.

Ditto on the reasoning. I picked up my new 2.7T the saturday before christmas. Being in chicago, the quatro is awesome, the safety features blow away the lexus gs300 (my old car) and the 4 year warranty is great. I havent really pushed it yet, only 500 miles, but I cant wait to test the turbos.

I paid 1600 over invoice, which for chicago probably isnt too bad. Great sales person. It will be interesting to see how the service and long term reliability matches the lexus. To be honest if lexus had the handling, safety feature i probably would have bought another one, but obviously there's no comparison.

Can't wait for the first snow. Of course we havent had any real snowfall since I got the car.
