Default Latch system retrofit for 2001 A6 (long)

I did a search, read all the posts on this topic and was wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience. I dropped off the A6 for its 5000 mile service today and asked about the Latch retrofit that was promised when I bought the car. The advisor claimed he had never heard of this and had no idea what it was. I showed him the nice Audi booklet on the topic, after which he then claimed it comes standard with the car. Closer inspection revealed this was not the case. He then claimed "no technician will touch anything child seat related" and had no suggestion as to how to proceed. Bottom line is he will read the materials today and is supposed to have an answer for me later today when I pick up the car. Am I expecting too much here? What more can I tell them except that I want the latches?

Default Who cares what they say now. If they promised you when you agreed to buy the car, you have a

verbal contract. Talk to the sales guy that promised you the retrofit and see what he says.

Default Your dealer is wrong. My A6 goes in next week for a FREE LATCH retrofit. Call AoA and ....

ask for the LATCH specialist- James Cruz. His direct number is (248)754-3349. He was very knowledgable and happy to assist.

AoA will retrofit LATCH to any Audi which is set up for it. No charge. In fact each participating dealer had to send a person from service or parts to class to learn about LATCH.

If your dealer is that clueless, perhaps it is best to go elsewhere to find one who knows what they are doing. Don't trust the safety of precious little ones to a hack.

BTW- What have you found for LATCH compatible seats so far? Not much on the market yet for newborns (due in April).

Thanks for the info! I'll give AoA a call and probably go elsehwere to get it done. This particular dealer came back (after a day of 'studying" the Audi Latch booklet) and told me they could order the parts for approx. $130 and 1.5 hours of labor. I think NOT! Don't know of any Latch seats for newborns yet. Britax has the new Expressway for 1 year and up. I plan on getting it for the then 18mth old in September when number 2 arrives and number 2 can get the current (convertible) Britax Roundabout.

Default Just found LATCH infant seat- Evenflo Cozy Carry. New on market. Also Evenflo Triumph V ....

is a LATCH compatible convertible seat.

Britax will not tell me when they will introduce a LATCH convertible to replace the RoundAbout. I would prefer to get a Britax, but nothing from them for a newborn.
