Default Local VW dealer has two Phaessats on outdoor display. I'm tempted to take a test...
... drive and then "accidentally" return it to the Audi dealer.

Default I'm wondering why you refer to it as a "Phaessat".
I get the implication, but the car doesn't even vaguely resemble a Passat.

Default The Passat is the next model down the product line... which is absurd.
First, the name Phaeton is ridiculous. Isn't that what the Munsters' car was called?

Second, it is, and should not be a VW.

Third, it's closest stablemate is the Passat.

My Audi dealer guy DETESTS the Phaeton (at the VW dealer 150 yards away from him!)

Default Sounds like you are talking about Bernardsville Audi and Volkswagen of Bernardsville.
VW of Bernardsville has a black Phaeton sitting in their showroom window last couple weeks. A lonely looking vehicle, it is.
