Looking at an '04 Allroad 2.7T
Hey guys, I'm toying with the idea of upgrading my wife to an '04 Allroad 2.7T. It has 44K on the clock and the dealer is wanting $28,990 as their frontline price. NADA, KBB, and Edmunds all show it around 29K-30K, but I find those sites a little overpriced. I'm not sure about packages and all that, but it seemed to have all the normal equipment on it. The body and interior seemed to be in very good shape. Gave exterior a quick look over and seems to be pretty dent and scratch free. Took it for a test drive and seems to drive fine. Although, it will probably need brakes soon. Any thoughts on price or Allroads in general? Thanks.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=208886390&dealer_id=848490& car_year=2004&search_type=both&num_records =25&keywordsfyc=&make=AUDI&transmissio n=&model=ALLRDQUA&distance=25&make2=&a mp;

come to the allroad forum.
Make sure you get a complete CPO inspection report in writting. And the Audi extended warranty/service(CPO) contract. The adjustable air suspension can be costly and time consuming if there is a problem.
Also...make sure you get this car inspected by an independant dealer. Get the serive history from Audi.
Get the brakes done BEFORE you buy it as its part of the Audi free maint. program that expires at 50K.
check out www.allroadfaq.com for other pointers an information.

Re: come to the allroad forum.
Thanks for the reply. I just posted this in the allroad forum as well. The car is NOT CPO. I did a quick scan on Autotrader and it looks like you can get CPO Allroads for about 5K less with less miles as well. Definitely think they're over on the price.

allroads are nice cars
I like them alot, one of my favorite avants, I'd like to add one to my fleet, if I had the money for a fleet. the 2.7t is a good engine, and plenty peppy, that one looks in good shape, and a nice color too (though I'm not a fan of light interiors), but yeah, it's over the average price, especially without cpo. get something with a warranty, at least for the first year, just to protect yourself from things like abused drivetrain, or other hidden problems.
as far as the book prices go, they're usually high on newer models, once a car reached about 5-6 years old they tend to be a little more accurate, but they also only figure year-to year pricing and don't always consider all the options and stuff. it's winter, that means it's a buyers market at the moment, so prices should be lower than summer pricing, another thing KBB and others don't factor in.
