Default Looking for advice (Long)

Here's my situation:

2000 A6 2.8 - coming off lease in Oct/Nov.
2002 Boxster S - on lease for 4 years
2002 Outback Wagon - wife's car that was purchased, not leased.

Goal is not to have 3 car payments.

Option 1: Buy Audi at lease end and keep it for 3 more years.

Option 2: Payoff Suburu and turn in the Audi for a 2003 2.7t.

Option 3: Buy Audi, trade Suburu for an A4 Avant so to have an all German stable.

The payoff on the Outback is the same as that for the A6. The A6 has 48,000 miles on it. I'm a little concerned with the redesign, but maybe the 2.7t will pacify me for a few years before getting the new design in the second model year.

What would you guys do??

Default Can you keep a 2.8 for that long?

I think 3 years is unrealistic, given what the buyout is going to be. More like 4 or 5, and no warranty.

Default If you go the avant route, I have a 1998.5 A4 Avant for sale, even if you don't buy my avant i would

get a avant and get a A6 2.7T, I have both and love them to death, I test drove the Suburu and chose the avant, the Suburu is a POS compared to Audi, If you did that I don't think you would ever look back, and would be very happy

Default I know where you can buy a nice used 2001 4.2 for cheap....! Having said that...I sure do like the

new A4's. They are really nice driving cars - better/more fun driving than the A6's I think.

All things being equal, I'd go with #3, but you'll have trouble letting the A4 be your wifes car...however, you do have the Boxster too....

Default If you are looking to reduce your monthy car payment.

If you like all the car's do #1. The 2.8 is a fine motor. Keep it maintained.

Keep the Subie. You are already taking the depreciation hit. Why start that over again.

(It's nice not having car payments...)

Default I notice you don't suggest dumping the Boxster ;^)

The 2.7T and the 4.2 are both very seductive motors. You might look for an off-lease 4.2 instead, which takes a bigger depreciation hit than the other A6s.

Default I'm assuming the A6 is fulfilling the "big car" niche. If your wife is

happy with the Outback (ugh). Dump the 2.8, and get a 4.2 sport off lease. You'll be happy with it longer. Someone else bit the depreciation...

On second thought, You shouldn't care if you wife is happy with the Subaru, dump it as well and get her an A4. (or a used S4!)

It is your responsibility!
