Default Lots of 2.7t questions

I just bought a 2000 A6 2.7T about a month ago. It has a few problems I had questions about. The previous owner took the abs module off to put on his other car. Does anyone have a part number for this? I found a place that has used parts and they want to know a part number. It also has the coolant leak near the secondary water pump. Don't know if it is the pump or not. I read somewhere that there is a way to fix it without removing everything, but I can't find it the article. Anyone have a link or advice? It didn't come with the keyless entry key, just a regular one. What would it cost to get a key from the dealer? I also need to get a new mirror adjuster because the **** broke off. The cup holder in the center console is broken. Is it hard to replace? The oil light has been coming on even though the oil level is fine and I don't hear anything wrong in the engine. It only comes on after the engine and oil have reached operating temp and usually at 1500 RPM, but goes away almost immediately. It will then come on again after a minute or so. This is EXTREMELY annoying because of the loud dings. I am pretty sure it is the switch. Would buying a used one be ok? And how do I replace it? Trying to do all of this on a college budget and it needs tires pretty bad, so there goes half the money. If it has not been driven in 12 hours or so when I start it the steering will pull to the left 3/4ths of a steering wheel rotation and this starts to go away the warmer it gets. It does this at the slightest pressure to the left. While driving or not. At first it doesn't want to turn right at all, but this goes away after a few seconds.

Just wondering how many miles it has on it and how much you paid for it... sounds like a lot of things you'll need to get worked out, granted you still may have got an awesome deal

Well... I don't know about awesome. It has 105000 miles on it but the owner said he rebuilt the engine and the turbos. I paid 4800. Is that good? Either way I REALLY like the car and would rather fix things then sell it.

... and I didn't find out about most of the problems until after I had it for a while. The sunroof didn't work, but I fixed that. And I did the clear corner headlight mod.

Hey Prid

Congrats on the car.

I have a bunch of DIYs on my site VAGLinks.com (by model - my sig). Someone suggested the Bentley manual. Definitely something that will pay for itself in spades, specially if you are doing the work yourself.. like most of us.. lol Bentley's best deals here: http://www.bimmerzone.com/ Worth every penny.

Next you will eventually need it, but you can get around without it if the $$$ are not there right now: VAG-COM (VCDS) http://www.Ross-Tech.com

Many used parts are being sold on the forums and eBay all the time. That's where I buy stuff majority of the time. Certain things are probably better to replace with a new part though, such as the oil temp sensor, as they are not that expensive and will save you from having to deal with it again for a while. I have bought a bunch of stuff off eBay from a guy in China. Genuine Audi parts (or let me say they certainly looked the part), I think his user is VAG-Team or something like that. Usually the shipping is high, but the total is still less than buying it here. For local genuine parts I have found this place: http://audi.bernardiparts.com/search.aspx This is actually the dealership where I bought my car, and I believe they want to get into the online parts market so their prices are very good. You need the part numbers to order though, or e-mail them, they are pretty good at getting back to you.

I also have a VAG search engine that might come in handy: http://www.PlanetVAG.com

I hope that helps.

Cheers

Hey Priddy

Just found this. Not sure if the seller would ship, but this is a great deal for a genuine VAG-COM: http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/1408780203.html

Please note this will work on your car, but does not have the CAN bus capability to read the 2006+ cars.

Cheers

Hey so I don't have the Bentley guide yet but I bought a new oil pressure switch to see if it will fix the oil light issue. Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to replace it?
