Default Meh! ABS and !^ warning followed by MIL

Driving like I do, gunned it a little cold passing the crazy cab...

It felt like the gear dropped into 1st, or like tapping the brakes while accelerating, but neither was the case. Looked at the dash and the ! point (like when you turn off ESP) was on, as well as the ABS light. I pulled over, shut off the engine for a minute...

Started the car again and both lights were still on, as well as the Check Engine light.

No noticable loss in performance or braking. Manual is always pretty vague...

I'll STFA and hit off the Chicago forum for a VAG tomorrow I suppose.

ABS module? Whats that cost? That usually accompany with a CEL as well?

Least she's still driving. Looks like I'll take it easy till I can get to service.

Default :^O Oh no! I hope it is not the ABS unit...

not a cheap fix, and I am assuming no more warranty? Hopefully VAG COM will reveal something less harmful to the wallet.

Default If it is, I'm not fixing it.

I'll sooner sell the car and get a new one.

Default Not that bad. Does it beep 3 times when you start it up?

Used to have to buy the entire ABS unit together: the hydraulics and the electronic control module. $$$

Now VWoA/AoA is supposedly selling just the electronic portion for between $500-$900 or so. Or some people have had theirs rebuilt by ModuleMasters in Idaho for about $300.

Removal and reinstallation is easy. Not much time or money involved.

IMHO, you oughtta fix it either way. It's like painting a house before putting it on a market. Busted ABS tends to spook potential buyers. ;-) Even dealers -- more likely to lowball by more than it would take to fix the thing.

Default No, not blinking or beeping, just that initial jerk the one time before they stayed lit up.

I'm just being dramatic, since I close on my place in 12 days.

Default Let me know if your HVAC digi readout starts going bright/dim at the same time

if it does, we're both looking at a similar problem. I'm sure you remember my posts.

AOA simply replaced my instrument cluster but even I knew that wasn't the culprit. The problem still persists and it's difficult for me to drive down to the dealer when it acts up. Either way, I'll keep a watchful eye on whether or not yours is similar to my situation.

Took the S6 in for the intermittant Tachometer drop out, ESP light flash, and HVAC light issue partX

Aren't you still under CPO coverage? Or is this another wear and tear item?

Default Could just be one of the wheel speed sensors out of adjustment - this happened to me with basically

same syptoms, but I didn't have the MIL with it. Just trying for some "affordable" options here. ;-)

Default Mine also comes on randomly, but it seems to happen everyday. Sometimes,

it even turns on when the car is in park. Have brought it to the dealer numerous times but was told that they can't anything wrong, but obviously, there is, otherwise it wouldn't light up.

Default Nah, I havnt had warranty for a few months...

...was originaly thinking of selling it, and since the transmisson was just replaced, along with the Cats and my ECU, I figured why pay a lot a for an extended warranty when theres not that many more expensive parts to replace.

We'll see, hopefully its just a sensor or something basic.
