Might buy a 2.7t 6MT...input?....
Hello all, I came across this A6 and I might take a look at it this weekend. Anything I should look for or beware of? I need to see if the warranty spoken of is the 100k/5yr one and if it is transferable. Other than the obvious, what else? Thanks in advance.

Looks like a good price. Other than mine being Tip, those are my options.
I'd check the maintenance records pretty closely and you may want to check to see if the LQ bumper recall has been done. It just may be the lighting, but the front bumper looks like it was repainted. No worries about that, but check to make sure it it is not trashed underneath and that it is attached to the front quarters correctly.
Timing belt/water pump/pulleys will be due at 75k.
Look for oil leaks on p.side rear and d.side front due to cam chain tensioners although even if they are not leaking now, they probably will require replacement in the next 20k miles.
Otherwise, you'll love it, it's a great car.
Be sure and save tons of money for mods or stop looking at this forum ; )

6 spd box is not as smooth as the 5spd you may be used to.....
check both front windows work properly and that the info display on the dash does not fade. Look for play in the track-rod ends and for signs of front outer CV joint boots failing. If the either boot is new, try pulling away on full lock (both ways) to see that the joints are quiet.
Check that the idle is smooth and the acceleration is progressive in say third gear. It should go like a train in first and second.
Check for clutch judder on take-up or slip under load in 6th.
Look underneath at the trailing edge of the engine under-tray, for signs of dripping oil.
The price looks to be about right. I paid £15000 for my 2000, 2.7t avant with 21k but I think that was a very good deal.

Re: not as smooth between gears, you mean?...
That sounds like a good checklist; stuff I wouldn't know to look for (I'm used to older Audis).
Thanks much in advance!

Headlight switch short...recall?...
I was researching NHTSA and found this recall...owners to be notified in July this year:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, PHYSICAL CONTACT OF THE LEFT DRIVER’S SIDE CRASH ELEMENT WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WIRING HARNESS COULD RESULT IN AN ELECTRICAL SHORT.
Hmmm..

Check here under "Service, other & general" a few lines down for several links to . . .
diy repairs to this. No biggie to do, but AoA has not taken action on this yet. Many of us (myself included) have taken matters into our own hands.

Stoney's Links
