The more I listen to my Bose Symphony sound system, the more I hate it.

I'm really starting to think there's something wrong with mine.
It just sounds so bad it's intolerable. I may ask the dealer to look at it next time I take it in. It's so astoundingly distorted!

If I remember right, the dealer said people with kids don't like them
because of the side airbags interfere with safety seats/little kids. Dealers don't stock them too much. Our Avant has them though.

Head units are identical on Bose Symphony and Concert systems, but...
...the Bose says "Bose" on the display when it's first powered on. Does yours?
If not, then it's not coded to Bose, and will surely sound awful. My head unit was replaced, and the idiot dealer forgot to code it as Bose. The bass was unbelievably bad until I took it back and they used their programming tool to re-code it.

Has less to do with child seat and more to do with sleeping kids
If someone sleeps in the car with their head to the side (even an adult), the rear side airbag can be fatal. If the child seat is in the middle, the child should be fine.
It should be noted that sleeping with your head towards the window in the front seat is also dangerous.

I had a 2000 A6 w/Bose and would NEVER describe it as being "astoundingly distorted".
Muddy bass, yes, but not distorted. Since you're out of warranty (unless it's "assured", and even then I'm not sure it covers the radio), if there is indeed "something wrong" then you may as well start from scratch w/aftermarket systems.

I'm going to look into things a bit. It seems like it has gotten worse over time, so
maybe there is some problem that's developed. One or more speakers has died/is dying on me. I'll monkey around a bit and then consider whether to switch to something else. I'd rather avoid that both for aesthetic and financial reasons.
