This is what I have now and I'm wishing I had the audio control buttons.

Do the C6 wheels fit/work on a C5? Looking at the pic posted by Pete K (vegasguy) it looks like they do, or is that not a C6 wheel. I notice that he also doesn't have audio controls. Maybe they never made a wheel that does it all.

You can have a steering wheel like mine from 2002 that has tip controls and radio controls. It should be plug-n-play for your car, but not cheap.
an old pic (before I got the matching black dome lights), but here is a pic of my steering wheel...

I know that your self-canceling ring is equipped already to handle the wiring for the tipronic controls (obviously), but I am not positive about the radio controls. Regardless, I will confirm the part number of your existing 3-spoke wheel and see if the self-canceling ring is the same one for your steering wheel and mine. Less parts to buy is a good thing.
It's not sporty but has it all..
(Very old pic btw, before wideangle lenses on afforable digital camera's :P)
OK, sorry for the false alarm. If I'm gonna spend close to $1,000 on something, it'll be on that ABT chip I've had my eye on

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say if you were patient enough, maybe you'd score it on eBay for about $250 for the wheel and about the same for the airbag. That would be less than 1/3 the cost of the parts new at the dealer.
Doing the RS6 paddleshift route would be less expensive, since you would be able to reuse your airbag on that steering wheel.
I think I'm gonna have to put up with taking my hand off the wheel and moving it over towards the CD/radio controls to adjust the volume or skip track. It's going to be a struggle I know, but such hardships exist to try us and see what we're made of. I'm fairly confident that I'm up to the job. What next? I'll be having to take my hand off the wheel to change gear too, oh wait, no I don't
