I've always had a notchy 1-2 shift-->
and on the 2-3 shift, it feels as if you can actually feel the gears engaging. On 1-2 I get a "snick" sound, with the windows open and when driving easy, you can hear it.
No other noises or problems, though.

S4 folks have complained about the same thing, too.
Some believe it's just inherent in the design of the six-speed transmission. The UUC short shifter helps that a little -- with the added benefit of making shifting more fun in general. I love mine. Highly recommended. "It should have come from the factory this way."

I've been noticing this for the past few days as well. I was begining to think I may have one of those defective transmissions that I've read several posts about, because it seems to be getting worse. I've had my car for all of 3 weeks now with only 850 miles on it. I glad you brought this up....I was getting concerned.<p>John (Roswell,Ga.)
