I had brakes done....$846 w/ labor! They made a note on the invoice that they noticed wheel bearing noise. How serious is this?

Default They will need to be replaced.

Serious only when they fail and you will not know when that is. However, probably no worse than getting a blow out at speed.

About how much does this typically cost for parts and hours of labor?

A sales pitch, not serious, if you can live with the growl. Apparently you weren't even aware!

Default My thoughts exactly!

Whenever I see wording like "Note: wheel bearing noise" that smacks of attempting to get some extra work. I have to admit that I would not have a clue what "wheel bearing noise" sounded like exactly in any event without someone telling me what to listen for. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish from tire noise and etc.

It will be unbearably loud before any catastrophic failure....hell, you should hear mine. (What!?)

Default That was my assumption, and hence surprise at the note on the invoice.

I may not be a total DIY'er but it's safe to say I can tell noises like that are bad news! When I hear something weird, I come to you guys and then take it to the Indy

Default 846 bucks for brakes......

Seems high to me, I've shopped around in the Denver area and 550 is as high as I've heard for all 4 wheels w/ labor.
