Need complete and final answer to the tranny "thump" question

it is more noticeable because of the speeds
At slower speeds/lower gears there is a lot more torque being sent to the wheel. The extra engine torque combined with the drivetrain torque reversal makes the backlash a lot more noticeable.

I think that is normal
There is a lot of front end dive during hard braking. In turn that transfers a lot of weight to the front tires. That makes the steering feel heavier. If you upgrade springs and shocks, that will limit front end dive, which would in turn lighten up the steering.

yup
shifts are much quicker, car seems quicker off the line (reduced delay from a stop), and generally smoother downshifts under braking. Really a night and day difference in the speed it shifts gears. Although you still need the 00032 recode with the tip chip.
