Default Need HELP/advice ASAP - Dealer repair question...

...I just got off the phone with the Service Advisor, and was told that my Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 needs to be replaced.

I was told that this is not covered under Omissions Warranty (7/70,000); is this correct?

The quote for the repair is about $500 ($190.34 for part and 3 hrs. of labor at $120 an hour).

Part #: 078-906-265M

Does anyone know how much this part cost? Is this quote fair?

Anyone with experience with this, please respond. Any comments, advices, and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Default If it's not under warranty, why pay for a dealer to do it?

You can get cheaper labor elsewhere.

Any muffler shop can do this for $100 or less.

I'd skip "any muffler shop" and look for a trusted indy.

Default Well, it's to late now...

assuming that a independent body shop would charge $90 ($30 less than dealership) for labor, I will only save about $90. But I will still have to pay the dealer $120 for the intial inspection, which mean I will pretty much break even either way.

I will probably bring it to a indepent shop from now on since I will be over the 7/70 warranty.

No heat required. Skip scary Bubba types.

Default You would definetly save money. Many indy shops are only $60-70/hr. Plus, they may...

only charge 1-2 hours for an O2 sensor replacement. I would go that route if I were you...
