love it...love it...love it
Its a great car! Solid performace with comfort and all the options I could ever dream about.
I bought mine 4 months ago and I love driving it everyday.
The only downside is washing it every weekend and having the wife roll her eyes at me. :-)
When buying a used car, its a good idea to heck carfax.com for title history report for your own protection.

You won't regret it
Personally I love mine. Shifter has long throws and the shifting action is poor. When I first got it I think I missed 2nd to 3rd about 10 times. Now, I'm used to it. As Lance (LCP) noted, there are shortshifters for it and they'll help fix the problem.
Only thing to worry about is whether the car was well taken care of. Definately get it checked out and ask if they chipped it (not that they'd be honest, but it can't hurt). If they have chipped it, take that into consideration. Not that it necessarily means the car will have problems, just know that the warranty might already be voided.
All in all, if the price is right and the car is solid, do it. You'll love it.

I've had my 6-speed 2.7t for 2-1/2 years now...
(just hit 45,000 miles) and I love it more then ever. This is my 3rd Audi, and far and away the best! I look forward to driving it everyday.
This car is unique (in it's styling), has a beautiful interior, is quiet, smooth and very fast. I also like the fact that you don't see them everyday....except here in the Bay Area.
I don't think you'll regret buying this car.

One caveat -- don't count on short-term resale. (more)
Audis depreciate a lot, and a big, manual transmission sedan hurts more than most. So, either keep it forever, or lease it.
I have the 2.7T tip, and I'd swap for a 6 speed in a second.

Re: Buy a shortshifter and you'll love it...
It's ironic you said that it drives similar to the s4, becuase i'm still considering the s4 as well. My only hang-up with the A6 is that i'm thinking it may not be sporty enough. On the other hand the s4 has no back seat. Decisions desicions. Can you give any more input on the "sportfactor" of the A6. Thanks for your reply.
