Posted some photos of Passport SRX custom install in my new A6 on Rocky Mountain forum for any one interested. Actually, laser jammers are illegal. Radar detectors are not.

Default "Laser shifters" are only illegal in 4 states currently according to the escort web site.
The 4 states are listed:
Calif, Oaklahoma, Minn, Utah

Default A radar detector does just that: it detects radar being used by law enforcement, but...
it can also pick stray signals from the likes of microwave ovens and automatic doors at the grocery store, hospitals, malls, etc. A radar detector does not jam or alter any signal it picks up; it merely detects the signal being sent by the radar gun(some radar detectors work better than others, which is a whole other debate).
