Default New Audi Driver

Greetings! I just bought a used '97 A6 Quattro. I'm an Audi convert (as long as the repairs are manageable.) I can't believe how great the Quattro system is. I've become an Audi bigot in one week's time.

I looked at several cars with traction control, but since we have had something like 7 or 8 snows in 15 days this year in St. Louis, it seemed like a wise choice.

Default Welcome to the club...

I would suggest an extended warranty, though. Depending on your mileage you might be able to get bumper-to-bumper coverage, still, since your car is a '97.

BTW your car is known as a 12v model, as in it has a 2.8L 12 valve V6. The newer models have a 2.8L 30 valve V6, and the new design. Also, the bodystyle is known as C4, while the new design is C5. Most of the posts here are related to the C5 cars, and of those most a '00+ 2.7T or 4.2L cars. Just a small bit of info since I always refer to our cars as 12v models, or C4... and I have been bugging AudiWorld to give us a 12v forum. Nothing yet, but they're considering it, I am told.

Have fun!

Default Congrats.....

I picked up a 97 A6 a few weeks ago.

You will learn that Audis are the giver of both pleasure and pain. (Mostly pleasure)

The nose on your car is long and low. Be careful or back in when in doubt.

I personally don't have an extended warranty but I do have a full toolbox and I plan on buying more tools.

I also have a diesel 4WD F250 for running parts and for use as a snow car in the city. When it snows in Seattle there are too many people with bald tires and no insurance to take a nice Quattro out.

Enjoy your car.

Default Good point...

You can easily pull your bumper off if you park over an object too high, like a parking bump (the concrete ones) or a curb. Been there, done that.

I would post it in the feedback forum and e-mail jteller@audiworld.com (Head Honcho)... but if we want to gather a list of 12v owners, there are a bunch of cars in the registry and I know of a few... e-mail me if you want to help. Later today I will grab the all e-mail addresses for 12v owners that I know of.

Default Re: Congrats.....

That's how I feel (about Seattle in the snow). When it flies around here the Quattro will stay warm and dry in the garage.
