Both rear seat cupholders don't pop out when pushed. They basically sit there, but can be pulled out by hand. Rather useless. I've coated one with silicon spray, wherever there's a moving part. I'll try WD40 on the other one next, but it seems hopeless. The little yellow gear spins freely, but the slide feels all gummed up. Is there a trick to freeing these units up other than a trip to the parts department?

Thanks!

I've had luck soaking it, blowing it dry then using silicon paste. No problems since then-12 months.

I had the same problem...cleaned them out with warm water to dissolve the gummed up sugar/coffee.

Did you take the whole assembly out of the seat or just manually pulled out the cup holders (to the open position)?

In my case just one is not functional but I couldn't find a way to take it out of the seat, there is foam underneath the cup holders. I tried spraying WD40 but didn't work.

So how did you remove it?

Thanks
Gaspar

Default I followed the TSB and popped the fascia off...

Released the retaining clips with a screwdriver and pulled the holders out. After soaking for many hours, cleaning, etc., much to my chagrin I noticed both have small cracks right where the notch in the slide where the top part pops out is located. (Sorry for the crummy description! - it's the 1/8" radius notch where the top part folds into the slide. It's the obvious weak point where it would break if stressed.) Looks like I have my culprit or culprits - one of my kids must have stepped onto them when they were both extended and snapped them. To the dealear I go! Thanks for your assitance anyway...
