Oil on the garage floor is NOT a good thing
On Friday I noticed some oil spots on the garage floor where the Audi is parked. I called and set an appointment to take it in this morning.
I just called to check on it and they said that they are replacing the valve cover gaskets.
Any chance this could have affected my gas mileage? It seemed low over the past week or two.

It's not likely that the oil on your garage floor had anything to do with your mileage....
more likely the colder weather.. And I've never seen a valve cover leak enough to cause a drip on the floor...

Here's the result...
Left valve cover gasket replaced per TSB.
Cam shaft cover gasket replace per TSB.
The tech said that there was a significant amount of oil laying in the belly pan. He was suprised that the oil light had not yet come on as it was getting pretty low in there. Odd since the operating temp of the car was actually lower than usual, but it has been pretty cold lately.
Anyone know if this stuff would have been covered if the car was out of the 50k warranty? Just curious
