Lease or purchase.I bought it but I have till monday to go to a lease.
the purchase price 61750
LEASE #s
36 month Pmnt $1271 M factor .210 Res $29,742
48 month Pmnt $1154 M factor .245 Res ??
20k miles per year allowed
Both are 500 down and apply the 2000 loyalty ($2500)
As a purchase they did step up on my trade considerably so I'm good that way.
I wouldnt know a good lease if it bit me in the ***, I have always gone the purchase route.
Again thanks for all your help, it was all good.:-)

Congrats, great move. Patience pays off. Sorry, no idea on your lease deal.
I traded my purchased 4.2 for the A4 on a lease, with 15K miles instead of the usual 12K, so by some measures my deal sucks. Built in the cost difference between my loan and the trade value, etc. I would question the number of miles you will drive and how long you usually keep a car to start with. The payment is secondary at that point. Enjoy the new beast!

Wow! You da man!
Did they break down for you how much the annual mileage adds to the lease? Those lease numbers sound high to me.
Mine is 48 months, but only 10k/yearly mileage and more than 300 per month less (zero down and $60k price). Unfortunately I cannot remember the residual, and my paperwork is in the office (company car...) so I guess that's probably the difference.
Do you have the possibilty of writing the car off through your own company? If so, lease no matter what as so much more can be written off as expense (only a percentage can be deducted if purchased).
I wasn't totally clear, did they take the 4.2 as a trade in?
Congrats!
Every option? Mine has all 'cept the alcantara seat inserts, which I think I'd have gone for if I'd placed an order (and I'd have deleted the lame OnStar).

Its a company car for sure. Got the inserts, and the good news is "No Onstar". What is that antenna
for? Nav? looks big enough for phone, dont want 2 antenna. 4.2 is gone with the deal. It was a sweet car.
First impression is S6 seems better balanced and just "tighter" in corners. more precise. I think I was close in HP with my 4.2 but this gearing rocks, It just feels quicker, could use one more up top (6 speed). I can excelerate from 4th gear handily, not so easy in the 4.2. (gearing?)
Gearbox is good but still a little slow, input to execution.
Is there an S6 tip-chip?
That is all for now, must put some miles on.

Your observations are correct...
gearbox is quicker than the 4.2...much quicker in sport-mode...perhaps not quick enough but vastly improved when you're trying to downshift with the gas pedal...
The tip is not much use to me...I feel like it is quicker and easier to just stick it in sport mode and use the throttle...

Re: OK, thanks for all the opinions and suggestions. 03 S6 Atlas, all options is in the driveway. OP
congrats!
those lease numbers seem a little high, but maybe because of the large mileage allowance.
our allowance is only 11k a year, which is about what we drive a year (hey, i walk to work!).
anyways, we got 900 a month/48 months. I had to pay something like 4k down, but that was largely to extract myself from a previous lease early (volvo). i just wanted out and probably took a hit accordingly.
as for the tip (per finman) i love using it. once you adjust to the timing of it, it's really fun. awesome, awesome car.
enjoy!

20k miles?
That's a lot of miles for a lease and you're paying for it! $1100+/mo is in A8 and almost S8 territory. To put things in perspective, my 39 mth lease for my '01 A6 4.2 with 1k/mth miles (39k total), and $1k cap cost reduction is about 40% less than your 36 month lease quote (incl MA sales tax) and the negotiated cap cost (or purchase price) was 20% of what you posted ($61k vs $49k). Believe it or not my residual is also $29k. Lastly, the MF seems high. Mine is 169 (or 4.1%) and that was in 2001, just BEFORE the buyers market that exists today. In short, the lease payments seem very high IMHO. Good luck!
