I was excited about those buttons...but they're lame IMO; I'd rather have radio volume there...

I agree. You can have the radio buttons if the paddle shifters behind the wheel can be retrofitted.

Default There will not be a new S6. Current S6 on the C5 platform is the last S6.

The new RS6 will be the only high performance version of the new A6. This would be on the C6 platform, of course. No more S models after the new S4. Audi's RS models (which will still have twin turbo engines) will be their only high performance models. Dr. Martin Winterkorn (# 1 person at Audi AG in Germany) confirmed all of this at the Geneva Auto Show in Geneva, Switzerland earlier this year. An AW member of the B6 S4 forum named energetics shared all of this information with every AW member who visits the B6 S4 forum back in early May, 2003. As soon as energetics on the B6 S4 forum emails me with an article or some kind of proof of this, I will post it here on the C5 A6/S6/RS6 as soon as I get the chance to do so. I am personally leaning toward (not speaking factually here) a twin turbo four cam 32V 4.2L FSI V8 from the Pikes Peak concept SUV for the new RS6 producing 500 hp and 509 lbs/ft of torque (both estimated).

Default Most likely, the new A6 will have the DSG transmission, but probably not until MY2006

If the Nuvolari concept is any indication, the DSG transmission designed specifically for longitudinal engine layouts and can handle as much as 600-650 hp and equal amounts of torque is only a couple of years away. My guess is that the new A6 will receive this DSG transmission when the new RS6 comes out (which I believe will be one year after the new A6). Once again, no new S6. See my message from earlier today titled "There will not be a new S6. Current S6 on the C5 platform is the last S6" posted 2003-06-27 at 14:03:24.

Default Yeah, I'm really just (sorry) questioning Chris JB's information...I'm thinking that the car he saw

was somehow retrofitted with the paddles, and that the production run has, in fact, ended. I wish I'd taken a picture of the memo to the dealerships that I saw which specified that the S6 production run was over as of (IIRC) March, 2003.

As 009 would say... -fin.

Of course, this is all just hoping for my selfish desire to have a more rare car!
