to check that out as well. I also am a female, (I read your other posts below.) Sounds like we are both in the Northeast too, I am in CT. How did you get to hook up with the Mount Airy place, do you think your contact could look for two of the exact same cars? 2000 sport/cold weather/auto-tip A6 either 2.7t or 4.2 with low miles for a really good price? Ha! What colors are you looking for? I would like dark blue if at all possible.

Hiya fellow female

The My Airy place is in PA. I found them on Autotrader.com. I'm not sure exactly where, but the address says it's in Philidelphia. I live in NJ only about 1 hr from Phili.

I'm looking for Black, Silver or Ming Blue with black interior. I have yet to find the Ming blue with black, if it's available at all. I don't really like the all tan interiors enough to settle on it. Especially when I'm spending this much $$. With tan, if the dash and steering wheel were black, then I would consider it.

I called Mt Airy today and spoke to a guy. I think his name was Mark as listed on the site. I think the other guy David is the one who actually goes to the auctions to buy the cars. I think they go for Audi's every 2 weeks. I belive this coming week is the week they go. If you want a specific car and you give them the criteria, they will find it for you. They require a deposit and commitment to buy the car. I don't have a problem with commiting as soon as I test drive both and decide. Give them a call on Monday and see what they can do for you. Have you driven one? I'm doing all this research and I haven't driven it yet. Silly I know, but I can't imagine it's going to disappoint me.

I am still on the fence about which engine. I want the 4.2 for it's power and the body style of the car is a lot bolder with the flared fenders. Of course it costs a lot more to. The 2.7 makes more sense, but what about reliability. If I get a car with a GOOD warranty that actually covers everything from gasket leaks to a busted turbo, I would probably get the 2.7.

I'm told myself I would put my car up for sale by today on a couple of sites, but I'm not ready to let go just yet. In reality, I know I have to, but it will be hard to see it go. It's been really good to me.

Mt. Airy Motors

Default Thanks for all the info trlyka! I really appreicate it>

I am looking for the exact same color combo too, (although no silver for me, I love dark colors) all I can say is that we have very good taste.

A few years back I had a VW Jetta, how I loved that car! (the passat is decidedly much more "car" so you must love it.) I also have yet to drive the A6 but have been a passenger in a few. I guess I better get into one, huh?

I am coming out of a 99 BMW 528. I always liked audis, and even more so the quattro feature. The rear wheel drive of the BMW, while I loved it, was misery in the snow we had last year. I recently bought a pre-owned porsche boxster as I have wanted to do autocross since I was a little girl (I know not to many girls are that "into" cars, but I love em!) I also had an emotional attachment to my BMW, but as soon as I got behind the wheel of my boxster...the sadness faded. You will be ok girl!

So now my search, like yours, continues. I have to have a winter car before it starts to snow so I have at least until Dec. 1st (I hope!)

I will call Mt. Airy on Monday for sure, and give them my specifications. Of course I will tell them that you refered me so that might give you an "edge" with pricing. I too am seriously considering the 4.2 (but with the boxster I am obviously on a budget here as well.)

One more thing, do you think that they will allow you to have a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done before you commit to the car? I ask because I want to have a audi mechanic check it out as well as a body shop to ensure that it has had no mechanical issues or major body work/paint work done-this can be the case with SOME, not all, auction cars-just a word of warning to you. Well worth the $100 or so not to get stuck with a Lemon!

Thanks again, will keep you posted!

Default Regarding colors, ladies...

In addition to Ming Blue with black ("Ebony"), you may want to consider Tungsten Gray (2000 & 2001) or Platinum (2002 & 2003). Both look great with Ming Blue. The Tungsten Gray is quite dark, though not as dark, obviously, as the Ebony. The Platinum (which I have in my car) is a fairly light gray (similar to the Silver available in the RS 6 interior) and also works very well with the Ming. While the Ebony / Ming Blue combo is also great, it's hard to find and, in my opinion, a little on the "cold" side. If nothing else, check out the other two interior colors and give yourselves a chance to see whether or not you like either of them. Just a thought.

I grew up on 8 cyl. vehicles, so it's one reason I'm drawn to the 4.2. My brand new cars consisted of a '94 Jeep Wrangler and the a '96 Corvette and both were black which was hard to keep clean with a dirt driveway. I too was always into cars. While driving both those cars, I had always wanted 3/5 Series or M3/M5. I let my ex take the vette and the payments when we split. I was glad to be rid of the payments, so I drove a couple of used cars and my latest Passat is by far my favorite. The vette was fun, but less then practical and useless in the snow. My tastes changed as I got older from Jetta/3 series sized cars to Passat/A6 sized cars. I don't have a family yet, but my BF will be getting another Jeep (Rubicon) and I need something we can travel in. The A6 seems to be the right combo of comfort and fun.

I certainly hope the place where you get a car will let you do a PPI. If not, then walk away. I am not sure how that works as far as how far they let you take it and for how long. I bought my Passat from a private owner and he let me take it so my mechanic could give it a mechanical inspection. I never though to have it checked by a body shop.

Email me after you talk to Mt. Airy and let me know what they say.

I still need to get up close and personal with a few different color combos in order to appreciate or deny something other then black.

Thanks for the input
