Planning to change the passenger front shaft seal and the tailshaft seals
This is for my 2000 Audi A6 4.2L Quattro.
I am wondering what do I need in terms of tools, parts, and extra care in steps when I change the passenger front shaft seal and the tailshaft seal?
I am going to order both seals from Audi dealer, but what other things do I need? I have all the tools I need I believe. I got the triple square tools as well already. I do need to get the gear oil. Is it 75-95W Full sythetic? Can anyone tell me a specific kind? or should I stick with OEM?
Any other things I need? DO I just use a flat head screw driver and just ply the seal off?
And since I got into there, is there other things I should do as well?
Thanks guys.

I would get everything at the dealer. Get 2 liters of gear oil and you'll have some left over.
triple square for the axle. T40 and T45 for the
center flange bolt and shield.
6mm hex for prop shaft axle to flange and I think the same for the shield on the pass side.
Hopefully you have a torx AND hex set on hand in case this varies slightly.
On my A8, I was able to change the propshaft seal without completely removing the exhaust. Don't know if that's possible on the A6. Either way, I would have some exhaust h/w on hand in case you need to remove it. I don't know the sizes on the A6.
I have a seal puller but I think a screwdriver can be used (see pic on audipages).
No, nothing else to do while you're in there.
I would start with the propshaft first since that's the harder of the two because of the potential exhaust removal.
You've already replaced the axle so you know how to do 90% of that task already.
