Default possible warranty issue on ' 02 3.0...

My dad purchased the car a year and a half ago. He recently took the car in for service and the dealership discovers a small tear on the CV boot and wants to charge 390.00 for the work. the car has the 100k warranty ,the question I have is why are they charging? and the does a CV boot come under warranty? The car has 60,000k on the clock and is wellmaintaned.

Default First understand what an extended warranty is.. and is not..

It is not an extention of the manufacturers warranty.

It is an insurance policy. Written buy laywers and bean counters who are betting that they can keep more of your money than they will pay.

Now that you know its a policy you have to read the areas that state what is cover or what is not covered. Each company differes from the other. Some will cover a CV Boot, while other call it a wear item (it is rubber) and not cover it.

I suggest you read your policy to understand the point of view that the dealer is taking. If you object then call the company that is giving you the policy and ask for clarification.

Default no different...

It may have the Audi name on it but it is still a policy..a service contract.. one of the better ones, but it still has limits. It is not a new car warranty. You should have the papers on it rar the points of what it does not cover.

It is a policy managed by and underwriten by a Warranty Services in Florida they are good, but still do not cover 100% like a new car warranty.

Default Don't forget that Audi Assured is sold at three levels: gold, silver & platinum, w/increasing ..

levels of coverage paired to higher purchase price for the coverage.

I have exactly the same problem at 48,000 miles. I am right outside Philadelphia, and have used Don Rosen. This will be my first visit using my Audi warranty which specifically states that it excludes CV joints....Any suggestions??

Not yet ,I have been doing this research for my dad who is out of state. Iam going to ask him about the level of his audi assured warranty as ESN has pointed out and then go from there.
