Question about the Lease Deal on A6 3.0 in NJ/NY area
I spoke with one of the dealers about this offer and tried to talk him down to run the numbers with $1,500 above invoice vs. MSRP. He indicated that the offer is based on a $2,000 discount by Audi, which makes the deal almost at $1,500 above invoice.
I tried to explain to him that this means that Audi is offering a customer rebate that should be added on top of any other discount from the MSRP and he would not bend.
I appreciate if someone would clarify the deal / trick for me.
The deal is for A6 39 mos/ 10K with 2.500 Cap cost and 399 monthly.
Thanks

Re: Question about the Lease Deal on A6 3.0 in NJ/NY area
Hey,
I am in Jersey too. I saw the ad in the Asbury Park Press the other day.
I leased my '01 A6 2.8q exactly a year ago. The deal at that time was better. The cap cost reduction was only $1,000. I was able to negotiate with the dealer. The dealer offered the lease to me for the same price ($399 + tax) without the $1,000 cap cost reduction and with 12k miles a year.
A dealer can typically offer a better deal than the program being advertised by Audi Financial Services if they are stuck with some inventory.
See if they will do the deal for the same price per month with less $ down and more miles.
Good luck.

I am in DC and a similar deal is in the media --->
Try another dealer and play one against the other. Make them work for your business. I admit that I tried that with BMW and nothing. But my feelings are it is worth a few hours of your time to get the best deal. Yes,10k miles is light.

Here is how it works.
The discount from AoA is paid to the dealers. Thus it is a dealer discount, not a customer cash bonus. Dealers may choose to pass along some or all of the discount if they wish.
AoA does run ads, but keep in mind the little disclaimer "dealer participation may vary".
The discount is applied after you have worked out a sale/lease price with the dealer - by this I mean X amount over invoice. The dealer still gets to keep the margin you have worked out, but passes along some or all of the bonus to you. Some specials apply only to a lease or a sale.
Yes, 10K miles is low, but normal when used for advertising purposes. Also remember that ad sample proces are often based on really basic cars. Selection will fade away quickly, so it is best to move soon if you want a certain car.
Don't wait to long with hopes that the deal may get better still. If inventory runs low, AoA pulls the plug on the program. I've often had people come to the dealership in Oct, after knowing about the sale in Sept, only to have the sale finished.
As a reference, every $1000 difference in price/amount down, will change the monthly payment on a 36 mo lease by about $22.
