Rear door not opening

Rear door not opening
Hi everyone. I got to work the other day and my window wouldn't go up so I was planning to disconnect the motor and move the window up. I was able to get the window up but I needed a flathead screw driver from the office so I put the door panel on lightly so I could close the door and come back. Now the door no longer opens with either handle. I'm not sure if something came loose in the door or if the door is not unlocking. Since the panel is not fully on I can pull the top back about half an inch. Any advice on how I can open the door would be super helpful. Thanks a lot!!

Do you have child safety locks? Make sure they are turned off. Unlock from the driver's door control panel or the key fob. It sounds like you have pulled the linkage apart when you moved the door panel if none of the above works. In that case you will need to mechanically work the latch mechanism. If you know anyone with a bore scope you might have a look at the inside of the door. You might also try removing the seat bottom from the opposite and get more room to move the inner panel. Failing all else, body shop or dealer visit is in order.

Also, unless you know the mechanism well I would remove the card on the opposite door and study the lock mechanism. A lot easier if you know what you are looking for.
