replaced TC now transmission wont pump fluid
I have a 2001 Audi A6 and had the famous pump seal leak. So i dropped my transmission and replaced seal and torque converter. After many days of frustration and sliding under the car 1,000 times I finally got it all together and now it acts like its full of fluid but its not. I didn't pre fill the torque converter and because of the leak lost alot of fluid, so i know it needs at least 6-8 qts. or more. Any help would be great. Thanks..

Hate to say it man, but they "famous" pump seal is really the pump itself has self destructed. First it leaks like crazy and then, it just stops pulling in fluid at all. Seen it several times, even my own A6 Avant's trans died the same way. I usually see it cars get near 150k no fluid change and the pump just ****s. I would get a used unit....
If you happened to not engage the converter quite all the way, it does three distinct clunks when i put them in. If you just put it in like that and tightend it all up...the trans is garenteed junk now.
I have a trans for a 2.7T car, with the EMP trans code if it comes down to it....

Thanks for your reply. I assumed the pump may be bad. When I installed the TC I didnt noticed 3 steps in when putting the TC in. But my theory was if I bolted the bellhousing all the way and I was still able to freely spin the TC to lign up the bolts holse through the flywheel I assumed it was fully engaged. So when I purchase a used tranny iwant to make sure I dont ruin it.
