Default replacing ABS sensor

So looks like drivers ABS sensor is toast .. . im thinking wires probably coroded. was intermitent ..tried to se how tight it was by turning it a few degrees now abs light is on solid and vagcom is reporting no input from abs sensor...

so looks pretty straight forward..friction fit, remove fender liner and looks like it may go through firewall in drivers footwell soemwhere when i look at the part image of what i need.

Anybody do this one yet ? price is pretty high so looks like may be quick trip to the wreckers.

any thoughts appreciated

The ABS wheel speed sensor wiring snakes thru holes in the wheel bearing housing & up to a rubber grommet at the firewall. Pry out the rubber grommet & can pull connectors out of hole. DS wiring on mine got worn due to rubbing on the hole edges on the wheel bearing housing. There is supposed to be a plastic wire sheath to prevent that, but time & temperature won out. I re-spliced my wires, rather than replace, but be sure to install a new wire protector in that region when fixing yours. Sensor has slight press fit to wheel bearing housing. Should clean up this area. I used a bit of copper anti-seize paste when reinstalling the sensor.

Pry off the rubber grommet under the fender liner. Connector is tucked inside hole directly behind grommet. Enough lack in wiring to pull connectors thru hole to disconnect them. .
