Rotor rubs on caliper, any ideas?
Here was my issue: the first rotors I got were the incorrect parts- hat height too tall. When I installed the wrong rorors, the two tabs that the 'caliper mount bracket' bolts to got tweaked inward. So the whole caliper assembly was angled inward. I got the correct rotors, confirmed that I had the right parts by calling Audi, but I couldn't get them to fit. I even replaced caliper mount brakets, because my first thought was those got bent.
Resolution : Torch and hammer. Carefully heat the tabs and tap them back to their original position. Trial and error, install the caliper mount bracket and rotor and varify that the rotor is centered in the chanel. You may have to keep heating and tapping.
Better yet, always make sure your new parts match your old parts. I brought the entire mess on myself because I missed this critical step. Haste makes waste.
