Default S6 Auto Transmission Fluid

I'm having my ATF changed (-50k miles) on my 2002 S6 Avant.

Audi seels special synthetic fluid for $21/qt.

Does anyone know the generic ATF application (synthetic of course) that meets all ZF's specs?

How about Redline or Mobil1 ATF?

Thanks much,

Grant

Default Your dealer is raping you, wholsale on Audi ATF is about 12 bucks per bottle.

I don't know of any alternative to the audi fluid. If you have the specs maybe you can cross reference them.

Go to ECStuning.com, they have Pentosin OEM ATF. It is like 12.95 per bottle.

Default That is the only fluid on the market approved by ZF. The actual spec is an Esso fluid (can't recall

the exact part number). Autobahnfluids.com or worldimpex.com sell the fluid for good prices.

Default Here's the specs - but the Pentosin stuff meets all the OEM requirements and I've used it w/no issue

for like 30k miles now (changed oil and filter 30K miles ago - time for another round). This is from the ZF website.

http://www.zf-group.com/pdf/OilReferenceGuide.pdf</a

Thanks S4_cinci - clarification - you used Pentosin or Esso?

Default I used the Pentosin from Autobahnfluids.com - have no idea where to buy the Esso stuff. The Audi ...

part number for the Pentosin fluid is: Audi/VW G 052 162 A2. It meets all specs for ZF trannys used in Audi/VW, BMW, and Merc vehicles.

Default IIRC, ZF distributors may sell the Esso stuff in 55 gal drums. Other than that its likely a Europe

only lubricant. Make sure you do filter as well, don't just flush the fluid!
