Default Shocking!!!!!!

OK, I have done searches and I have looked on many sites - I cannot find a shock that will correspond with my eibach pro kit springs! I would like to go with Bilsteins as I have had them in the past and liked them alot. I cannot find them for my '98 A6 Q. I have spoken to several different distributors and all say "they are under development". Konis?? Any good - I don't want to go to coilovers as I don't need that kind of suspension. This is strictly a highway car I enjoy driving - I don't need anymore than just the lowering springs and shocks. Is the heavy duty Bilsteins good enough to handle the shorter springs without any problems?? Give me some names where I could get what I would like if you know. TIA.

Well how about the Eibach pro shocks? Have the advantage of being well matched to the springs.

Default I love my Konis

I had them set according to one of the writeups, they are a little soft. Next time I'm in there I may firm it up.

Default Bilsteins are available

Not sure who you've been calling but Bilsteins for the A6Q are most certainly available. If you have trouble finding those let me know, we can have them in a couple days for you.

The KONI's however are a more comfortable shock, and probably most closely resemble the Eibach shock. Both are twin tube designs and offer similar characteristics.

Are you running eibach springs with stock non-sport shocks right now?

Default What I am looking for are Bilstein Sport for my A6Q (98) ...

I want the inserts for the front and whatever for the rear. The last time I did an Audi I could not find inserts for the rear just the complete strut. I am thinking the shorter stroke shock is what is need for the shorter springs I want to run. Am I off base here or are the regular - heavy duty - good enough to do the job. (BTW I have not installed anything yet - spring project!) The car is 8 years old with 25,000 miles on it! I just want to sport it up abit for looks and ride on the highways. I really appreciate everyones input. TIA

PS. The sport shocks I have been calling around for I have been told to contact Bilstein directly and it is Bilstein that is saying they are not available - "in development". The sport shock has the shorter stroke to accomodate the spring better? Again is this what I should be looking for?? Mike - thanks for your input!

Default Your car doesn't use inserts.

Front and rear are entire shocks with the perch and all.

The C4 A6 chassis uses an insert in the front, not the C5.

If you're using lowering springs you'll want to use the Bilstein Sport shocks, which like I said are available for your car.
