It's nothing overpowering, but it's there - at least to my untrained nose. Is this normal?

Addendum: I have no idea how the oil circulation works in an engine.

Default Not really normal, but not terribly unusual..

Most common way for gas to get in oil is if you have a leaky fuel injector, which drips into the cylinder, and the gas runs past the rings and into the oil. Do you often have rough cold starts and lots of smoke?

Default Nope, usually starts right up without hesitation and never once has it smoked

So its nothing to be concerned about, i hope? How extensive would diagnosing which injector(s) are leaking, and is replacement/remedy even feasible?

And thanks very much for the input; of this entire site the most useful resources are without a doubt the knowledgable folks who frequent it

Default I recently posted about this... even after changing the oil and driving <100 miles, I have it

It's just a slight odor too.

I'm thinking my PCV system is blocked. Is there any special test that can be performed to check?

Default I've noticed my breather hose is cracked in like four different spots and had been taped together

I was planning on replacing it anyway if it can be done as a single part. Any idea if this can be done relatively easily, and how difficult it would be to replace the PCV valve as well? Could this likely be the source of the problem?

[edit with pic; the uppermost crack is actually at the elbow where it connects back to the y-pipe)

Default It's a single part and the PCV valve is part of it as well...

Some have used heater hose to repair it instead of replacing, but you don't get a new PCV valve that way.

For various reasons I think I have a blocked PCV system, but changed the suction pump and green and blue check valves and the old ones seemed good, so I'm considering changing the whole hose (for the PCV valve) even though it's not broken (yet).
