...audi loves drivetrain etc sharing...so do you thik these could fit my 2.8 if i cut my valence

I usually prefer the welded on variety. No idea if these fit though.
The clamp/screw type can come loose and look a bit down market if you see the transition.<ul><li><a href="http://www.magnaflow.com/02product.htm">Lots of choices here</a></li></ul>

I doubt it. Keep in mind also that your existing exhaust tips point downward.
If I remember correctly from my own former 2000 2.8q, they aren't detachable. Your FrontTrak may be different, though, since both pipes are on the left side. I suggest checking. If they point downward like on the quattro, these tips aren't likely to do you much good.

If stock exhaust turns downward after the muffler like the 2.7,
there won't be enough pipe to bolt it onto. The A4 exhaust tips are straight. Better off getting it welded.
I found my tips online for around $25, so the $39 ebay price isn't really that low.

Re: ok any advice on where i can get some weld on tips...yes the 2.8 has down tips
I have a 1999 A6 and I went to my local mieneke and had them weld on some tips for me. And we did cut the valance. I have pics if you're interested. The most time consuming part was the cutting of the valance.
