What is the safest way to get the paint from the garage off her car? From what I know I would just use a rubbing compound and wax it...should this be safe for her car paint? She also has a rubber strip down the length of the car, how do I get the paint off it?

Default I have a lady friend that does this repeatedly. I find that 3M Imperial Hand Glaze works very well

to get it off and buff out any light scratches. See www.carcareonline.com for hints & tips.

Default Might not be strong enough

I've had to use Meguiar's Swirl Remover on some scratches, but now that they have so many products there might be something better.

I once used Colgate toothpaste in an emergency roadside repair in Milan, worked just fine!

I'd use a clay bar first and then a good polish
