A solution to A6 2.8 Avant horsepower...
Has anyone considered or performed an engine swap on a A6 Avant 2.8 with a 2.7T or 4.2 V8 ? I'm not sure what the labor rates are to get it done, but it seems worthy of consideration. You can get a '00 A6 Avant off lease via auction at a good price (mid 20's) and swap out the engine with a 2.7T or 4.2 plus a couple of grand to upgrade the suspension, for a lot less than a Allroad or S6. Anyones thoughts ???

2.7t will fit. Need new wiring harness and computers ( 22 in car )
The car is Can Bussed, so you probobly need to change a lot of electronic stuff. Takes 13hrs to R&R the engine, + whatever time it takes to reverse-engineer the install. Make sure to get the trans too. The 4.2 will not fit.

I would think it would be fairly straight forward for he 2.7
but pretty tought for the 4.2. The 4.2 is probably too big for the engine bay. The 2.7t was designed to fit in the standard A6 engine compartment and is the same block as the 2.8 so the mounts and tranny should bolt right up. You will have to do some computer replacement, possably only the ECM/ECU but maybe some others. The tranny of a 2.8 will mae up but it may not be as strong as the 2.7t tranny soyou may have to swap trannies.
I want to do a RS-4 2.7t engine swap.
