Default Sport Suspension vs. Air Suspension

The 2005 A6 4.2V8 will (as for 2004) have an optional sport suspension package from the start and, also, an air suspension option by calendar year 2005. Can anyone explain the differences between and/or redundancies of the two systems, i.e., if the car has sport suspension, would air suspension be needed or even possible?

Default the spring rate can only be so high on an air suspension car before you start to lift it..

there is no way to have the airbag get stiffer without growing. with steel springs, you can have a shorter overall ride height, with a stiffer ride. Maybe you could have a stiffer overall bag, which would determine the rate I guess, and use the air to compensate for load...
